Waitangi Trip
Introduction
It was about 5am in the morning when my sisters alarm went off.
I had to get ready for school and to get ready for the trip to Waitangi,
I was really hot lying in bed and then once I took the covers off poof I
was shivering cold as if I was in a ice bath. I was getting ready for school
when I noticed the time said 6:54 and I thought it said 7:54 am then I was
lying there on the ground crying as if I missed the bus. I had finished
getting dressed for school then my mum told me the time 7:10 am then I got
up in a hurry ready to leave to the bus. Then when we got there the bus left
at 7:32 am and we arrived at school and the time said 7:45 am.

Going to Waitangi
It was 8:30 am when Miss Simeon said “Time to get ready we have only half
an hour to get ready”. We also needed to make sure we had the following
items:

Packed lunch
A hat
A bottle of water.
When miss Simeon said we were ready to go outside and did a roll check.
Then went on the bus and left at about 9pm. When we were leaving the
school grounds Miss Simeon and Miss Paraha said to stick together in a
group or in our classes just to ourselves and our friends safe. Eventually
we had arrived at the Waitangi treaty grounds and then left to go and hear
the speeches.

Speeches
When we arrived to the field where all the speeches were taken place.
The sun was so hot and brighter than a spotlight from a Justin bieber concert.
The speeches were taking so long I was half asleep on the field.
I managed to get up and see Kanoa Lloyd from the project we took a photo
with her and then sat down to have something to eat. We finished eating and
the these two people from Maori Television came and interviewed our class
mates Heaven and Jontay. We we finished that little tv interview things our
prime minister Jacinda Ardern started speaking. She was talking about her
childhood and remembering that her dad took her mother and he gave her
mother a big fat sloppy kiss. She finished her speech then we left to go see
the museum.

When we got there we had to put our bag into this bag rack cage things
and then go into the museum part. We had to take off our hats because it
was disrespectful to walk in with our hats on and because we think and
learn with our eyes, mouth, nose and our heads. We walked in and got
told things about the Maori and British people. There were these big
touchpads thingies that had all this information on them about the Maori
and how the Pakeha people came and took over the Maoris land. We also
got told that Hone heke was well known for chopping down the British flag
two times because he thought that it didn’t deserve to be flying in there lands.
We got told that there are actually 12 copies of the treaty and the original
copy was in wellington and the rest of them are scattered all around NZ.
When we finished at the museum we were leaving to go and see the waka.

We were told that the waka was called ngatokimatawhaorua. We ended
up having lunch and getting together all our stuff taking photos going
for toilets and then leaving.

Leaving
It was the end of the day for all of us and we were leaving back to Tautoro.
We all piled in on the bus and started talking about the day and everyone
said it was a nice day but it would have been alot better if we could have
fit a little swim in the middle but unfortunately we couldn’t.
